John Dawson

John Dawson has a strong background in geodesy and positioning systems. John has held various roles at Geoscience Australia, starting as a Geodetic Engineer/Scientist in 1996 and eventually becoming the Director of Positioning in 2017. In their director role, they led the delivery of Australia's and New Zealand's Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS), which was a significant project for the organization. Prior to their time at Geoscience Australia, John also served as a Researcher at The Australian National University and held leadership positions at IAG/UN-GGIM-AP and CRCSI, where they focused on positioning and spatial information. John has extensive experience in the field and has contributed to the development of the Asia Pacific Reference Frame (APREF) as the Chair of the organization. John's expertise and experience make him a valuable asset in the field of geodesy and positioning systems.

John Dawson has a comprehensive education history that spans multiple fields. John obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science from the University of Melbourne, graduating in 1993. Following this, they pursued a Bachelor of Surveying degree at the same university, which they completed in 1995. In 1996, Dawson furthered their education by attaining a Master of Geomatics degree from the University of Melbourne.

In 2000, they pursued a Graduate Certificate of Management in Business Administration and Management from the University of Western Sydney. Finally, Dawson completed their highest level of education by earning a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD degree from The Australian National University between 2005 and 2008. Unfortunately, the field of study for their PhD is not specified.
