As Chief Engineer, Ashraf Elsayed, Ph.D, P.E., D.GE, M.ASCE offers his staff and clients expertise rooted in both extensive project experience and in-depth academic study.
Ashraf has served in a leadership role with the Geotechnology Memphis office since 2000, when it was known as Hall, Blake and Associates, Inc. Ashraf particularly enjoys problem-solving in engineering practice and helping clients overcome design and construction difficulties.
Dr. Elsayed’s engineering career began in highway and airport construction in Cairo, Egypt. This was followed by graduate studies focused on pavement design and transportation materials.
Since earning his Ph.D. in 1995, Ashraf has focused on geotechnical engineering. He continues to learn and share his knowledge with clients, employees and students alike. Ashraf also has experience in transportation engineering, construction materials and geotechnical engineering.
Ashraf enjoys teaching as an assistant professor at the Arkansas State University. He also enjoys helping young professionals grow and develop their skills over the years. Previously, he taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Memphis and the University of Alabama. Ashraf earned three degrees in civil engineering, including doctorate and master’s degrees from the University of Alabama and a bachelor’s degree from Cairo University in Egypt.
In addition, Dr. Elsayed is a licensed Professional Engineer in 15 states and a member of many professional associations. His memberships include ASCE, The Geo Institute, The Engineers’ Club of Memphis, West Tennessee Structural Engineers Association and West Tennessee Geotechnical Group.
Moreover, Dr. Elsayed is involved in his community and in education. He is a member of the Governor of Arkansas Earthquake Advisory Council (GEAC), the Christian Brothers University Civil Engineering Advisory Board and the Southwest Tennessee Community College Advisory Board.
Dr. Ashraf Elsayed received the designation of Diplomate, Geotechnical Engineering (D.GE) by the Academy of Geo-Professionals in 2013. This prestigious post-license credential provides professional engineers an opportunity to gain further recognition in the field of geotechnical engineering.
