Karen Zipfel is an experienced architect with a strong background in exhibition design. Karen has worked at the Deutsches Museum as Head of Exhibition Design since 2015, after serving as Deputy Head of Exhibition Design from 2009 to 2015. Prior to their time at the Deutsches Museum, Karen worked as a freelance architect at Baureferat München, Ingenieurbüro Geib, Rudolph und Sohn Architekten, Flughafen München GmbH, Koch & Partner, and gmp von Gerkan, Marg and Partners Architects. At gmp von Gerkan, Marg and Partners Architects, Karen started as a student assistant in architecture and eventually became an architect. Karen'swork experience spans from 1995 to the present, with a focus on architectural design and exhibition planning.

Karen Zipfel obtained their education from Hochschule Anhalt from 1993 to 1998. Karen completed their studies there and earned a degree in Architecture, specifically a Diplom-Ingenieurin (Dipl.Ing.).
