Jens Kallmeyer

Jens Kallmeyer is a Senior Scientist at GFZ-Potsdam, where Kallmeyer leads the Aquatic Biogeochemistry Laboratory since June 2012. Previously, Kallmeyer served as the Head of the Junior Group Geomicrobiology at the University of Potsdam from October 2008 to June 2012 and worked as a Postdoctoral Scholar at GFZ-Potsdam from January 2007 to September 2008 in the Organic Geochemistry Section. Kallmeyer also held a postdoctoral position at the NASA Astrobiology Institute in Rhode Island, contributing to research on subseafloor microbes from January 2005 to December 2006. Earlier, Kallmeyer was a Project Manager for the DEBITS drilling campaign in New Zealand while at GFZ-Potsdam from October 2003 to December 2004, and started in the field as a PhD student at MPI Bremen from February 2000 to October 2003, focusing on sulfate reduction in the deep biosphere under the supervision of Bo Barker Jørgensen.
