Thijs van Den Oetelaar

Thijs van den Oetelaar has a diverse work experience in the field of data science and finance. Thijs is currently working as a Lead Data Scientist at Moss | Spend smarter since April 2023. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Data Scientist | Risk at the same company from October 2021 to March 2023. Thijs also worked as a Data Scientist at Klarna from April 2021 to September 2021.

Before entering the data science field, Thijs gained experience in the finance industry. At Spotcap Global, they held several roles including Data Scientist, Risk Strategy & Data Analyst, Senior Credit Analyst, and Credit Analyst. In these roles, they were responsible for building machine learning workflows, conducting exploratory data analysis, evaluating creditworthiness, and assessing loan applications.

Thijs also has experience in sales and customer service, serving as a Sales and Customer Service Representative at NeoGames. Thijs started their career as a Graduate Intern at BaseNet Internet Projects BV, where they worked on optimizing and controlling the administration service desk.

During their academic years, Thijs interned as a Finance Intern at EC Language Centres. Thijs has demonstrated a diverse skill set in data science, finance, and customer service throughout their career.

Thijs van den Oetelaar completed their Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Accounting and Finance at Hogeschool van Arnhem en Nijmegen (HAN) from 2011 to 2014. Prior to that, they obtained their vwo diploma in Economics and Society from Gymnasium Beekvliet from 2004 to 2010. In addition, they have obtained several certifications in various data science and machine learning courses from institutions like Coursera and DataCamp.
