Nicola Dorrington

Nicola Dorrington has extensive work experience in localization strategy and operations. Their most recent role was as the Senior Manager of Global Localization Strategy at GetYourGuide, where they managed a team of internal coordinators, specialists, and project managers, as well as over 130 freelancers. They were responsible for overseeing translation workflows and prioritization processes in 14 languages, managing a budget of over €1.2 million. They also played a role in planning the short- and medium-term strategy, interfacing with Product on operational initiatives, and implementing various projects and tools.

Prior to that, Nicola worked at Wayfair as a Localization Project Manager and a Localization Quality Analyst UK. They have experience in managing localization projects and ensuring quality standards. Additionally, they have worked as a Copy-Editor and Proofreader as a freelancer, where they edited academic assignments and theses.

Nicola also has experience in content management, working as a Content Manager at Idealo Internet GmbH, where they created and localized SEO-optimized texts and product pages. They were also involved in photograph editing and product field research.

Other roles in Nicola's work experience include being an Owner of Nicky Dorrington Media, a Production Assistant at Camilla Inc, a Guest English Teacher at EPIK (English Program in Korea), a Graduate Assistant and a Circulation Assistant at Rhodes University Library. Nicola Dorrington began their education in 2007 at Rhodes University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Linguistics, Photojournalism, and German. Nicola completed their undergraduate studies in 2009. In 2010, Nicola continued their education at Rhodes University, earning a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree.

Later, in 2021, Nicola enrolled at Quantic School of Business and Technology to pursue an Executive MBA, which they completed in 2022. Additionally, Nicola obtained several certifications to enhance their professional skills. In 2020, they completed the "Agile with Atlassian Jira" course from Coursera and obtained the "Strategic management: Be competitive" certification from the same platform. Moreover, in 2023, Nicola attended the Machine translation Master Class from The Localization Institute, further developing their expertise in the field.
