Derek Engel

Derek Engel is a highly experienced engineering professional currently serving as the Managing Engineer at Gexcon since January 2020, where responsibilities include leading consulting projects, conducting CFD analyses, and performing risk assessments in the oil, gas, and dust processing industries. Prior to Gexcon, Derek held the position of Public Utilities Engineer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, specializing in safety analysis for the MBTA's rapid transit systems. Derek's career also includes a tenure as a Senior Engineer at GexCon US and a Project Engineer at National Grid, focusing on natural gas project management. Derek holds a Master of Science in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University.
