Shoma is an Expert Partner at ghSMART and the firm’s Expert in Leadership Development and Coaching. She helps public and private equity boards and CEOs build the leadership capital needed for profitable and sustainable growth.
Prior to ghSMART, she co-headed the senior leadership development function at Goldman Sachs (Pine Street), where she coached the firm’s partners and managing directors on personal and team development. She also architected a number of signature leadership acceleration initiatives for high potential managing directors, senior women leaders, and high-producing traders. Earlier in her career, Shoma was a management consultant at Deloitte Consulting and has held roles at the Federal Reserve Bank and the United Nations.
She has contributed to a number of publications including Harvard Business Review, Chief Executive magazine, Forbes, Leader to Leader Journal, and The Handbook of Teaching Leadership. Her research interests include psychology of trading and investing, producer-manager-leader challenges in professional service firms, and real-options based approaches to succession planning. She has also been selected to be a member of Marshall Goldsmith’s 100 Coaches initiative, a group of top executive coaches, business thinkers and CEOs with the common purpose of using leadership as a multiplicative force for positive change.
Shoma earned a BA from Northwestern University in economics and math, an MBA from Columbia Business School, and an MA in International Affairs from Columbia University. She has completed coaching certifications from the UC-Berkeley Executive Coaching Institute, The Neuroleadership Institute, and the College of Executive Coaching. She is also a trauma counselor with a certificate in Group Interpersonal Psychotherapy from Columbia University’s Global Mental Health Program.
