Clint Fincher has over 25 years of work experience in the engineering field. Clint is currently employed at Pre-Switch, Inc. as an FPGA/Firmware Engineer since July 2020. Prior to that, they worked at Giga-tronics starting from June 2020 as a Systems Engineer.
From 2011 to March 2020, Clint Fincher worked at HiQ Solar as a Principal Engineer. In this role, they designed and implemented firmware, FPGA code, diagnostic software, databases, and web interfaces for inverters and communications gateways. Clint also developed algorithms for MPPT, waveform optimization, grid synchronization, arc detection, RCD, and anti-islanding. Additionally, they created custom, programmable DSP cores using FPGA resources to handle signal processing, servo loops, and critical safety features.
Before joining HiQ Solar, Clint Fincher worked at Tektronix from May 2010 to October 2011 as a Senior Engineer. Prior to that, they worked at Synthesys Research from December 2001 to April 2010 as a Senior Engineer. At Synthesys Research, they designed, laid out, tested, and created calibration algorithms for broadband boards and systems with various serial data rates. Clint co-designed and wrote firmware for the BERTScope CR, which won the 2006 DesignVision award.
Clint Fincher's work experience also includes their tenure at AMPEX Data Systems Corporation from June 1993 to November 2001 as an Engineer. There, they designed ASICs for high-speed encoding/decoding and motor control, created multiple FPGAs for system integration, and developed code for embedded systems and a custom multi-threading operating system.
Clint Fincher obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Texas A&M University, where they studied from 1989 to 1993.
