Wayman Scott

Associate Director Of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, And Community Relations at Gilchrist

Wayman Scott has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Wayman started in 2006 as a Youth Program Facilitator for the Archdiocese of Baltimore and later became an Associate for Youth and Young Adult Programming and Education at ST. JOHN THE EVANGELIST CATHOLIC COMMUNITY. Wayman also served as a Council Member for the ARCHDIOCESE DISABILITIES MINISTRY COUNCIL.

In 2014, Wayman worked as a Pastoral Care Intern at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and in 2015, they took on roles such as Patient Navigator/Chaplain Resident and Supervisory Education Student/ Pastoral Care Department Faculty at the same hospital. Wayman provided spiritual and emotional support to different units and served as a course assistant. Wayman continued their work at Johns Hopkins Hospital as a Sunmer Chaplain Resident in 2016.

Wayman joined Catholic Charities in 2017 for a clinical year. In 2020, they served on the Board of Directors member at large for Washington Hill Mutual Homes and became involved with Gilchrist as a Chaplain. Wayman later took on additional roles at Gilchrist as a Counselor and Community Engagement Specialist and eventually as the Associate Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Community Relations.

Most recently, Wayman joined Baltimore Clayworks as an Artist in Residence under the EMBARC Fellowship and as a Springboard Studio Artist. Wayman also became an Artist in Residence - Openshaw Artist at Maryland Hall in 2023.

Wayman Scott holds a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling/Counselor from Loyola University Maryland, which they obtained between 2013 and 2018. In 2014 to 2016, they pursued Clinical Pastoral Education at Johns Hopkins Academic Medicine Pastoral Care. Prior to that, from 2006 to 2013, they earned a Master's degree in Theology/Theological Studies from Washington Theological Union. Wayman also holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Government from Towson University, obtained in 2002. Wayman is currently a candidate for an Executive Certificate in Diversity Equity and Inclusion at Georgetown University, which they are scheduled to complete between 2022 and 2023. Additionally, Wayman Scott obtained a certification as a Licensed Graduate Clinical Counselor from the Maryland Department of Health in December 2020.
