Smita Salian-Mehta

Smita Salian-Mehta, PhD, DABT, ERT, is a highly experienced Senior Project Toxicologist at Gilead Sciences, leading the non-clinical safety team for research and development drugs across various therapeutic areas since April 2021. Prior to this role, Smita held senior scientist positions at AbbVie from December 2015 to April 2021, where contributions to oncology, immunology, and neurology investigations were significant. In addition to toxicology roles, Smita has co-chaired several working groups within the IQ Consortium, focusing on recovery strategies in non-clinical studies and non-human primate husbandry issues. Smita's academic background includes a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Neuroendocrinology from the University of Colorado and a PhD in Biochemistry with a focus on Toxicology from the ICMR. Research expertise includes the investigation of endocrine factors and the effects of environmental toxins on reproductive health, supported by multiple scholarly publications.
