Frank Wu

Frank Wu is a Senior Patent Agent at Ginkgo Bioworks, Inc. since March 2020, bringing extensive experience in intellectual property. Prior to this role, Frank served as the Senior Director of Intellectual Property at Wave Life Sciences from November 2015 to February 2020, where responsibilities included leading global patent strategy and supporting the company's transition from start-up to clinical development. At Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research from March 2009 to November 2015, Frank managed patent prosecution efforts and notably drafted a siRNA patent portfolio valued at over $35 million. Frank’s early career at Morrison & Foerster LLP from June 1996 to March 2009 involved patent prosecution and litigation in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors. Frank holds a Ph.D. in Bacterial Genetics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, completed between 1988 and 1995.
