Valerie Morley

Valerie Morley, PhD, currently serves as a Senior Scientist in Pathogen Genetics at Ginkgo Bioworks, Inc., since November 2023. Previously, Valerie held positions as a Research and Development Scientist at Nature's Toolbox from June 2022 to November 2023 and as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Bioinformatics & Genomic Epidemiology at The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center from April 2021 to June 2022. Valerie's expertise includes analyzing next-generation sequencing data for viral and bacterial genomes, managing cross-functional team projects, and delivering presentations to stakeholders. Valerie earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Yale University and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Oberlin College. Throughout an academic career, Valerie has published multiple peer-reviewed papers and has been recognized with several awards and fellowships.
