Your Role:
The Outreach Coordinator is a dynamic and inspiring role dedicated to being the resident event expert. You will advise Community Engagement Specialists on running successful events (both virtual and in-person), drive traffic to events, and utilize tools like Canva, Eventbrite, and social media to create engaging and impactful experiences. This role requires a proven track record in creating lead-generating events with high conversion rates. The Coordinator will work to increase membership and engagement by implementing innovative event strategies and collaborating with families, community organizations, schools, and other entities invested in empowering youth and fostering excitement about the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

How You Will Succeed:
You will leverage your event planning expertise, creativity, and communication skills to develop and implement SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-bound) event strategies. Through consistent, compassionate, and creative communication, collaboration, and consultation with strategically engaged communities, you will execute daily and weekly digital initiatives, host monthly in-person Signature Events, and collaborate with our Service Unit Volunteers, Outdoor Program, and Communications team to achieve goals.

Competencies & Responsibilities:

  • Event Planning and Execution:
    • Develop and maintain a calendar of recruitment and engagement events.
    • Coordinate event logistics, including setup, materials, and transportation.
    • Create in-person and virtual events for Community Engagement Specialists to host, ensuring a welcoming and informative experience for attendees.
    • Advise Community Engagement Specialists on best practices for running successful events.
  • Traffic Generation:
    • Implement strategies to drive traffic to events using tools like Canva, Eventbrite, and social media.
    • Create compelling event promotions and marketing materials.
    • Analyze event attendance and conversion rates to inform future strategies.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Represent the Girl Scout brand in building relationships with local community partners, youth-serving organizations, and other community-based entities.
    • Create regular community listening sessions to understand community needs and recommend solutions.
    • Partner with Girl Scout staff to test, iterate, and scale potential opportunities for girls.
  • Professional Development and Training:
    • Lead and participate in regular professional development opportunities, including training in DEI, mental wellness, and girl development.
  • Resource Management:
    • Manage assigned financial resources necessary to accomplish assigned objectives.

Your Expertise:

  • Experience:
    • At least 7 years total relevant education and experience, including:
      • 3+ years in event planning, community engagement, youth development, sales, and/or recruitment.
      • 3+ years in relationship-building with a variety of collaborators.
    • Proven successful track record in creating lead-generating events with high conversion rates.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in tools like Canva, Eventbrite, and social media for event promotion.
    • Effective social selling and use of technology for prospecting and driving traffic to events.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and facilitation.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred).
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strategy and Data:
    • Ability to develop data-informed strategies to achieve local and statewide goals.
  • Commitment:
    • Demonstrated success in youth development.
    • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in youth programs or community-building initiatives.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
    • Knowledge of the Girl Scout organization and mission.
    • Outstanding ability to drive traffic to events, generate leads and convert leads quickly.
    • Understanding of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
    • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, nonprofit management, or a related field; equivalent work experience considered.

What You Will Achieve in Your First 120 Days:

  • First 30 Days:
    • Complete onboarding and training on Girl Scouts mission, programs, and recruitment strategies.
    • Familiarize yourself with the CRM system and other tools used by the team.
    • Start building relationships with key collaborators.
    • Attend initial recruitment events and observe experienced team members and volunteers.
    • Schedule and conduct weekly one-on-ones with your manager to discuss progress and set goals.
  • First 60 Days:
    • Begin prospecting, strategizing, and scheduling recruitment events and presentations.
    • Develop your personal and professional brand through effective networking.
    • Build relationships with community organizations, schools, and other partners.
  • First 90 Days:
    • Take ownership of planning and executing recruitment events.
    • Utilize Salesforce to track and manage leads.
    • Analyze membership data to inform and refine event strategies.
    • Collaborate with other departments for integrated recruitment efforts.
  • First 120 Days:
    • Meet or exceed initial membership goals for your assigned territory.

    • Develop and execute innovative techniques to enhance recruitment efforts.

    • Provide feedback to improve event processes.

    • Build and maintain relationships with community partners.

The Details:

  • Compensation:

    • Nonexempt/hourly, starting at $25.24 – $33.71 per hour, depending on qualifications, plus quarterly performance bonuses. An additional $1.25 per hour for Spanish language skills at a conversational level or better.

  • Hours:

    • Full-time business hours, with some flexibility. Occasional travel and event attendance, including weekends and evenings.
  • Location:

    • Regular job duties can be performed remotely if you meet internet connectivity standards, in any of our Service Centers throughout Oregon, or in a hybrid setting, based on your preference. You must live in Oregon or Southwest Washington. This role also required occasional travel, including overnight and long-distance travel. All staff are required to participate in in-person meetings, events, work assignments, and retreats, the frequency and location of which is determined by business needs.
