The airport directly employs more than 300 staff and together with companies based in and around the airport they support more than 4,500 jobs. The airport currently contributes £61.6 million to the Scottish economy.  Glasgow Prestwick Airport is working with partners to create an aerospace hub in Ayrshire for businesses involved in the space industry.
