Francis Lao

Francis Lao is an accomplished engineering leader with extensive experience in technology and software engineering. Currently serving as the Engineering Leader at GEICO since October 2024, Francis is focused on developing a modern enterprise document platform that supports the document lifecycle with scalability, resilience, and security. Prior to GEICO, Francis held the position of Director of Engineering for the Core Platform at Glassdoor, overseeing the design and operation of essential platform services and cloud infrastructure. Previous roles include Director of Engineering and Software Engineering Manager at Metabiota, Senior Software Development Engineer at Yahoo!, and Software Automation Engineer at both Satellite Healthcare and Wells Fargo Bank. Francis holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from UC San Diego and a Master's degree in Computer Science from San Francisco Bay University.
