Martin O'Brien has worked in the software engineering field for over 30 years. Martin began their career in 1986 as a Software Engineer at GEC-Marconi. From 1991 to 1994, they worked as a Lecturer in I.T. at Harlow College and Hertford Regional College, teaching courses such as BTEC National Diploma and City & Guilds Level II C Programming. In 1995, they worked as a Data Analyst/Programmer at Reuters and as an Embedded C Software Engineer at R.F. Electronic Controls Limited. From 1997 to 2000, they worked as an Embedded C Software Engineer at Cintel International, where they designed a new font for the GUI and added various new commands to the communications protocol. From 2000 to 2010, they worked as an Embedded C Software Engineer and Data Capture System Engineer at Pitney Bowes, where they received two Rapid Rewards for their work and brought in one particularly difficult project ahead of schedule and within budget. From 2012 to present, they have worked as a Lead Consultant at Altran, working at Delphi Automotive Systems in Gillingham as a member of a software team of 20 people divided in four different countries. Martin has also worked as a Senior Developer at Glasswall since 2012.

Martin O'Brien attended The Open University from 1983 to 1992, where they obtained a B.A. in Mathematics, Computers, and Education.
