Programming Leader (current) \ Principal Programmer at GSK

Carletha Blanding has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. Carletha started as a Mycology Lab Assistant at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where they conducted research and collected data on Spartina alterniflora plants. Carletha then worked as a Summer Intern at North Carolina State University, focusing on developing PCR screening methods for the identification of transgenic plants.

Carletha then returned to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and served as a Lab Researcher, studying the genetic transmission patterns of leaf rolling and dry weight UV responses in maize. Carletha also worked as a Graduate Student, analyzing UV-induced alterations in gene expression using microarrays and implementing various statistical methods.

In 2005, Carletha joined PPD as a Programming Intern, eventually progressing to the roles of Associate Programmer, Programmer Analyst, and Senior Programmer Analyst. Carletha was responsible for programming support, data management, and statistical report generation. Carletha also worked at InVentiv Health as a Senior Statistical Programmer before rejoining PPD as a Senior Programmer Analyst II. In this position, they led challenging projects, supervised other programmers, and ensured compliance with CDISC standards.

Carletha then worked as a Senior Consultant at DataCeutics, where they provided expert programming support and collaborated with multi-disciplinary teams. Currently, they hold the position of Principal Programmer - Oncology at GSK. In this role, Carletha serves as a subject matter expert, leads programming activities, and contributes to the development and execution of various technical and study documents.

Throughout their career, Carletha has demonstrated expertise in statistical programming, data management, and the application of advanced analytical techniques. Carletha has also exhibited strong problem-solving skills, proactive recommendation abilities, and a keen interest in staying updated with market conditions and technological advances.

Carletha Blanding earned a Bachelor's Degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from the University of North Carolina Wilmington between 1998 and 2003. Carletha further pursued their education at the same university, completing a Master's Degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from 2003 to 2005.

In addition to their academic achievements, Carletha Blanding holds certifications in SAS programming. Carletha obtained the SAS Base Programming for SAS 9 certification from SAS in June 2017. More recently, in December 2021, they acquired the SAS Certified Specialist: Base Programming Using SAS 9.4 certification from the same institution.
