Global Medical Portfolio Lead - Pneumococcal Vaccines at GSK

David Willer, PhD has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in the field of medical affairs and scientific research. David began their career at the University of Guelph as a Postdoctoral Fellow in 2001. After that, they worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow of the National Cancer Institute at Emory University from 2001 to 2004. David then joined Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto as a Senior Fellow from 2005 to 2007, and later took on the role of Scientific Associate from 2007 to 2014.

In 2013, David joined GSK, where they held multiple positions over the years. David served as a Medical Science Liaison in the Vaccines division from 2013 to 2015. From 2015 to 2017, they worked as a Scientific Advisor and Medical Science Liaison on a national level. Subsequently, they assumed the role of Director, Global Scientific Affairs Lead and then Global Medical Affairs Lead (GMAL) for the Zoster vaccine from 2017 to 2021. In 2021, they became the Sr Global Medical Affairs Lead / Sr Director for Early Vaccines at GSK. Currently, they hold the role of Global Medical Portfolio Lead - Pneumococcal Vaccines at GSK, starting in September 2022.

Throughout their career, David Willer has demonstrated expertise in medical affairs, scientific research, and collaboration in the development and promotion of various vaccines.

David Willer, PhD obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry (toxicology) from the University of Guelph, where they studied from 1991 to 1995. David later pursued their passion for Molecular Biology and Genetics and completed their PhD at the University of Guelph from 1996 to 2001.
