John Vastianos has a diverse work experience in finance and management roles. John started their career as an Assistant Management Accountant at Yarra City Council in 1998, and later became a Management Accountant. In 2003, they joined Glen Eira City Council as a Financial Accountant and worked their way up to become the Finance Manager. Since 2016, they have been serving as the Chief Financial Officer at Glen Eira City Council. Prior to their work in local government, they also served as a Finance Manager at James Cook University. Overall, John Vastianos has extensive experience in financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and statutory reporting.
John Vastianos received their Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from James Cook University from 1996 to 1998. John then pursued further education and completed the CPA Australia Program, earning the title of Fellow Certified Practicing Accountant in 2013. John also obtained a Graduate Certificate of Management from the Australian Institute of Management, which they completed in 2020. Additionally, they attended the Australian Institute of Company Directors in 2018. Prior to their tertiary education, John attended Townsville Grammar; however, no specific degree or field of study is provided for that period.
