Peter Goodhand

Chief Executive Officer at Global Alliance for Genomics and Health

Peter C. Goodhand serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health since September 2012, facilitating the responsible sharing of genomic data among over 600 international member organizations to enhance human health. Goodhand has also held significant leadership roles, including President of GA4GH Inc. since December 2020 and President of the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research from May 2016 to May 2018. Prior to these roles, Goodhand was President and CEO of the Canadian Cancer Society from July 2004 to June 2012, leading the organization through a major merger and establishing strategic initiatives with a budget exceeding $220 million. Goodhand's experience also includes founding the Health Technology Exchange, serving as President and COO of MEDEC, and holding various senior marketing positions at Johnson and Johnson Medical Products Canada and American Cyanamid. Goodhand's educational background includes credentials from the University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management, Columbia Business School, and the University of Leeds, where a Bachelor of Education was obtained.

The Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH) is an international, nonprofit alliance formed in 2013 to accelerate the potential of research and medicine to advance human health. Bringing together 500+ leading organizations working in healthcare, research, patient advocacy, life science, and information technology, the GA4GH community is working together to create frameworks and standards to enable the responsible, voluntary, and secure sharing of genomic and health-related data. All of our work builds upon the Framework for Responsible Sharing of Genomic and Health-Related Data.
