Regional Director, MENA at Global Counsel

Ahmed Helal has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in the fields of economics, politics, and international relations. Ahmed began their career as a Policy Analyst at the Qatar National Food Security Programme and later worked as a Speechwriter for the United Nations. Ahmed then served in the Qatar Ministry of Economy and Commerce as a Policy Assistant, where they played a crucial role in the development of the national food and water security strategy. Ahmed further enhanced their expertise in economic analysis and strategic budgetary discussions as an Economic Analyst and Chief of Staff to the Deputy Undersecretary at the Ministry of Finance Qatar. Ahmed also held the position of Senior Fellow for Economic Issues at the Qatar-America Institute, where they administered a significant budget and facilitated analysis of energy, trade, and economic movements between the two countries. Prior to their current role as Director, MENA at Global Counsel, Ahmed worked as an Analyst Contributor at The Economist Intelligence Unit, delivering insights and analysis on various subjects. Throughout their professional journey, Ahmed has consistently demonstrated strong analytical skills, policy development expertise, and the ability to cultivate partnerships and cooperation on both national and global levels.

Ahmed Helal's education history includes obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University, which took place from 2005 to 2009. Following this, they pursued a Master of Public Administration degree at Columbia University from 2011 to 2013.
