Andrea Carolina Batarse

Andrea Carolina Batarse is a designer with a strong focus on humanitarian efforts and community development in response to the needs of refugee populations. Currently serving as a designer at DSGN Associates and the Global Design Initiative For Refugee Children, Batarse is engaged in creating social spaces and playgrounds for refugee children in Reynosa, Mexico. Previous roles include a Graduate Fellowship at USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance, where research centered on the relationship between shelter, settlements, and health outcomes for migrant communities. Batarse has held positions with organizations such as Solidarity Engineering and BRW Architects, contributing to projects that emphasize culturally appropriate shelter and civic engagement. Educational credentials include a Master’s degree in Sustainable Emergency Architecture from Universitat Internacional de Catalunya, along with degrees in Architecture and International Politics from Texas A&M University.
