Floriane Cardiec is a Global Fishing Watch consultant for Central Africa, promoting transparency in the fisheries sector by encouraging Central African countries to participate with Global Fishing Watch in this process.
Floriane has more than 10 years of experience in marine conservation in Central Africa. With the Wildlife Conservation Society, she led a program on small-scale fisheries in Gabon and supported the government in the creation of a network of marine protected areas (MPAs). She obtained her doctorate in fisheries sciences at Université de Bretagne Occidentale, France, and her research focused on small-scale fisheries in Gabon with an emphasis on developing models to detect fishing locations of small wooden boats and their links with MPAs. Floriane is passionate about the ocean, couldn’t live far away from it and is concerned about its sustainable use.
