Anita Househam

Company Board Member at Global Network Initiative

Anita Househam is a company board member at Global Network Initiative. Anita has also worked as the Director of Supply Chain Sustainability at Telenor and as the Senior Manager & Issue Expert of Social Sustainability, Supply Chain Sustainability, and Policy & Legal at United Nations Global Compact.

Anita has an in-depth knowledge of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, ILO’s labour standards, and the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Anita has also contributed to the policy development and implementation of the UN Global Compact’s integrity measures, and provided legal advice and managed legal-focused projects.

As the leader of the UN Global Compact’s supply chain sustainability portfolio, Anita has been responsible for its strategy and related activities, including developing and maintaining an active Advisory Group of companies. Anita has also successfully delivered a number of projects, such as the launch of the joint UN Global Compact /ILO Child Labour Platform, development of the Global Compact Toolkit on Supply Chain Sustainability, and the Supply Chain Sustainability Resources and Practices website.

Anita has extensive experience engaging with high level and working level representatives from a variety of stakeholders including business, investors, academia, government, UN, civil society and unions. Anita is also a member of the Children’s Rights and Business Principles (The Principles) steering group and has contributed to the development of the Principles, which were launched in over 40 countries and engaged 1,000+ stakeholders.

In addition to their work with the UN Global Compact, Anita is responsible for developing and implementing advocacy campaigns, authoring articles and key messages, and launching podcast series and webinar series.

Anita Househam attended SOAS University of London, where they earned an LLM in International Business Law. Anita also holds an LLB from Lancaster University in European Legal Studies.
