Lead & Architect, Network Operations at Global Relay

Mazen Fawwaz has extensive work experience in the field of network operations and engineering. Mazen is currently working at Global Relay as a Lead & Architect in Network Operations. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Network Specialist at Simon Fraser University from 2016 to 2020, where they played a key role in various projects including the Campus Network Renewal Project and the implementation of MPLS/VPN core. From 2011 to 2015, Mazen served as a Network Lead, overseeing the Data Center Operations team and campus network team at Simon Fraser University. Mazen also worked as a Network Engineer at the university from 2004 to 2010, where they led the network migration project and the DHCP migration and IP space re-allocation project. Before joining Simon Fraser University, Mazen worked as a Network Implementation Engineer at BTC Networks from 2001 to 2003, where they played a key role in implementing projects for Saudi Telecom Company. Mazen started their career as an OSP Engineer at Dar Al Handasah from 1997 to 2000, where they designed and supervised the installation of copper and fiber outside plants.

Mazen Fawwaz has pursued a comprehensive education in the field of technology management and computer communications. Starting with their high school education at the International School of Choueifat - Sabis from 1978 to 1986, Mazen Fawwaz then attended Rawdah High School from 1986 to 1991. Following this, they proceeded to the American University of Beirut from 1992 to 1996 and obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree specializing in Computer and Communications. Continuing their educational journey, they enrolled in Simon Fraser University from 2006 to 2007 and completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on Technology Management.
