Brendan Gaffney

Brendan Gaffney is currently a Senior Associate for Communications & Public Affairs at Global Strategy Group. Prior to that, they worked as a Production Assistant for NBC Nightly News and NBC Washington.

Gaffney began their career in February 2020 with NBC News as a Production Assistant for NBC Nightly News. In this role, they assisted producers and correspondents with editorial and archival research for Nightly News packages, gathered and edited audio and video elements for day-of-air stories, and built chyrons and breaking news banners to be used for live shows. Brendan also found, coordinated, and transcribed guest & character interviews for Nightly News.

In July 2019, Gaffney transitioned to NBC Washington as a Production Assistant. In this role, they attended morning meetings and briefed NBC affiliates on daily reporter assignments and breaking news stories. Brendan also assisted at various levels of production including numbering show rundowns, delivering and updating anchor scripts, recording hit times and live locations, and acting as a liaison between show guests and production. In addition, Gaffney assisted the assignment desk by fielding and responding to media inquiries, confirming breaking news, assigning weekend reporters, logging FCC compliance records, and performing beat checks. Brendan also edited and cut video for the digital team and created snipes and graphics featured in newscasts.

Brendan Gaffney has a Bachelor's degree in International Relations and Affairs from Brown University. Brendan also has a High School Diploma from McCallie School. Brendan is currently a Benjamin Franklin Transatlantic Fellow at Wake Forest University.

Brendan Gaffney reports to Erin Billings, EVP, Communications & Public Affairs. They work with Nancy Hine - Manager, Communications & Public Affairs, John Schiumo - VP, Communications & Public Affairs, and Alvin Jordan - Director, Communications & Public Affairs.
