Yun Lai

Yun Lai is a seasoned environmental advocate with extensive experience in climate change, nature conservation, and policy advocacy. As a Senior Advisor at Global Witness since January 2020, Yun focuses on critical issues such as Energy Transition and Green Finance in China. Yun is the Founder and Executive Director of the Society of Canton Nature Conservation, which promotes nature education and conservation efforts. Previously, as Chair of the Board of Directors for the China Nature Education Network, Yun played a significant role in establishing a major platform for nature education in China. Yun has also held various influential roles at Greenpeace East Asia, including Senior Researcher and Senior Campaigner, where work involved major campaigns on coal, water, and ocean issues. Educational background includes a degree from Xiamen University (1997-2001).
