Eugene Skrabut has worked in the scientific field since 1979. Eugene began their career as a Research Associate at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where they supervised the production of collagen-based artificial skin closures for animal and human trials. In 1984, they became the Principal of EMS Scientific Consulting, where they acted as a scientific consultant to Marion Laboratories and Biofunction, Inc. In 1988, they began working at Genzyme as a Scientific Director, Cell Therapy and Regenerative Medicine, where they coordinated scientific efforts related to the biomaterial component in on-going MACI™ programs. In 2015, they acted as a Scientific Consultant at MiMecore Therapeutics, where they advised on non-clinical testing of an injectable medical device. In 2016, they became a Scientific Consultant at Sanofi Genzyme, where they advised on non-clinical testing of medical devices and drugs. Eugene also worked as a Scientific Consultant at Boston Children's Hospital Technology Development Fund, where they reviewed FDA communications regarding a regenerative medicine project. In 2018, they worked as a Scientific Consultant at Glycologix, where they reviewed internal SOPs and Work Instructions, advised regarding ISO 10993 safety testing required for medical devices, and recommended CROs to conduct safety testing. Eugene currently works as a Scientific Consultant at Sanofi Genzyme.
