Director Of Engineering & Detailing

The Director of Engineering & Detailing manages the lifecycle of all shop drawings for all projects. This person oversees all shop drawing creation and should have extensive experience in Structural Steel Fabrication, Erection, Design, and Engineering.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all engineering, design connections, and shop drawings
• Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications
• Oversee and manage contracted delegated designs
• Enhance and optimize designs for efficiency in shop and field operations
• Manage multiple detailers, detailing managers, and projects ranging in various sizes, complexity, and stages of completion
• Provide technical assistance for estimating, manufacturing, and construction processes
• Develop relationships with 3rd party detailers and successfully utilize them to obtain a competitive advantage for GMF during the buyout process
• Work with the Project Management team and assist with specialty engineering required on projects
• Act as a resource for the Preconstruction team to review and explain change orders related to Detailing and Engineering
• Oversee project timelines, completion, and deliverables and communicate status updates to upper management
• Develop departmental objectives and work with staff to achieve them

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, with a focus on structures
• 10+ years of experience in Structural Steel Construction, Fabrication, Erection, and Engineering
• Experience with Tekla® or SDS/2(3-D BIM) software
• Licensed PE in the State of Florida
• Extensive knowledge of the AISC Code of Standard Practice, AISC Specifications for Structural Steel Buildings, OSHA safety requirements, and miscellaneous and architectural steel building code standards

Salary:

• $125,000 - $140,000 / year
• Dependent upon Experience
