Alphonsus Martyn

Alf served for 34 Years in An Garda Siochana reaching the rank of Detective Superintendent in the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau. Whilst there he was appointed Operational Head of The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) and held the national remit for Money Laundering Investigations. He played a leading role in the Mutual Evaluation of Ireland carried out by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) in 2016/17.

As a young detective, he was trained and specialized in fraud investigation and later on in his career, led numerous investigations into some of the most high-profile murders in the State. He is a qualified Senior Investigation Officer and has taken charge of numerous complex fraud investigations. He joined GOAL in November 2018 as Investigations Manager after retiring from An Garda Siochana. In February 2020 he was appointed Director of Investigations.

Alf holds an LLB in Law together with a Diploma in Legal and Business Studies.
