Max Johnston

Max Johnston is an accomplished reporter and senior creative producer currently working at Goat Rodeo since May 2021, where responsibilities include pitching, writing, reporting, editing, publishing, and marketing podcasts. Previously, Max held various roles at Interlochen Public Radio from 2018 to 2021, including assignment editor, education and politics reporter, and interim news director. Max's experience extends to Spartan Newsroom as a staff writer, focusing on multimedia stories related to Mid-Michigan's politics, culture, and economy, as well as serving as news director at Impact 89FM and producing a podcast on food and agriculture for The Knight Center for Environmental Journalism. Max began building a career in the media landscape with an environmental news internship at Interlochen Public Radio in 2016 and a position as records clerk for the Michigan State University Police Department from 2015 to 2016. Academic credentials include a Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism from Michigan State University and earlier studies in Journalism and Criminal Justice at Wayne State University.
