Senior Data Scientist at GoCardless

Ekaterina Gorbunova has worked in various roles throughout their career. Ekaterina is currently a Senior Data Scientist at GoCardless since December 2021. Prior to that, they worked at Depop as a Senior Data Scientist from September 2020 to December 2021.

Before their role at Depop, they were employed at Skyscanner, where they held multiple positions. From July 2019 to September 2020, they worked as a Data Scientist II, focusing on developing a forecasting system for delivery monitoring in the advertising department. Ekaterina also developed an internal architecture optimization system for search engine optimization at scale.

Their earlier roles at Skyscanner include a Data Scientist position from September 2018 to July 2019 and a Growth Executive role from September 2016 to August 2018.

Additionally, Ekaterina has also gained experience as a Summer Analyst at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in 2016, a Growth Intern at Skyscanner from June 2015 to June 2016, and a Spring Intern at Credit Suisse in March 2015.

Ekaterina Gorbunova's education history begins in 2009 when they attended Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) and obtained a Full Secondary Education in Informatics. From 2011 to 2013, they pursued a Cambridge Pre-U degree in Economics at CATS Cambridge. Following that, they attended The University of Edinburgh from 2013 to 2017, where they obtained a Master of Arts (MA Hons) degree in Economics. In 2017, they continued their studies at The University of Edinburgh for a year, completing a Master of Science (MS) degree in Informatics with a focus on Cognitive Science.

In 2022, Ekaterina began pursuing a part-time Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science at the University of Southampton, where they are currently enrolled.

Additionally, they have obtained several certifications including Mental Health First Aid from Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England in August 2022, Data Ethics, AI and Responsible Innovation from edX in December 2021, Apache Spark Essential Training from LinkedIn in December 2019, Causal Inference from Coursera in April 2019, Data Scientist from Dataquest.io in February 2019, and Data Analyst from Dataquest.io in August 2017.
