Thomas Burkhalter

Thomas Burkhalter is an accomplished artist, founder, and director, currently active with the duo Melodies In My Head alongside Swiss music producer Daniel Jakob. Burkhalter’s extensive experience includes founding Norient, an audio-visual gallery focusing on global contemporary music and facilitating the Norient Film Festival as Strategic Director. As Co-Director of the documentary Contradict, Burkhalter collaborates with musicians to explore societal issues. An associated researcher at the University of Bern, Burkhalter has also contributed as a freelance writer on music and globalization. Their academic background includes multiple PhDs in social anthropology and ethnomusicology, along with master's degrees in social anthropology and music ethnology, showcasing a profound commitment to the fields of music and cultural anthropology.
