Richard A. Friedman

Chairman, Asset Management Division at Goldman Sachs

Richard Friedman is Chairman of the Asset Management Division, helping to lead the development of Goldman Sachs’ broader alternatives business. Mr. Friedman is a member of the Management Committee, Chair of the Merchant Banking Division (MBD) Corporate and Infrastructure Investment Committees, and Co-Chair of the MBD Real Estate Investment and Firmwide Investment Policy Committees. Previously, he was Global Head of MBD for 21 years, until 2019. Mr. Friedman joined Goldman Sachs in 1981 and was named Partner in 1990.

Mr. Friedman is a fellow and the Secretary of the Corporation of Brown University and is Co-Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Mount Sinai Health System. He is also the founder of the Friedman Brain Institute at the Mount Sinai Health System.
