David later went on to earn a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from California State University, East Bay, attending from 2008 to 2011.

In addition to their academic degrees, David Franklin also obtained two certifications related to education. In August 2000, they received the California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from the California Commission on Teaching Credentials.
