Jonathan E. Byers

Jonathan E. Byers, M.Ed., GCDF, CCSP has a diverse range of work experience in the field of career development. Jonathan E. is currently working as the Director of Career Education at Gonzaga University, where they provide career coaching to students and recent graduates, facilitates presentations and workshops on various career development topics, and manages a team of staff members.

Prior to their current role, Jonathan worked at Virginia Tech as an Assistant Director of Career and Professional Development. In this position, they provided career advising and coaching services to students, developed and delivered presentations on career development topics, and engaged with faculty, staff, and employer partners.

Jonathan E. also worked at Duke University, where they served as the On-Site Director for the Duke Talent Identification Program (TIP) summer studies program. In this role, they supervised and evaluated staff, oversaw program logistics and activities, and provided support to students and staff members. Additionally, they worked as an Admissions Staff Specialist for the Duke TIP program, assisting with the application processing system and communicating with parents.

Earlier in their career, Jonathan worked as a Program Support Coordinator at the Duke University Career Center, where they served as the initial point of contact for employers and students, and facilitated the needs of employers looking to advertise jobs and internships to Duke students and alumni.

Jonathan E. Byers, M.Ed., GCDF, CCSP completed their Master of Education in School Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of North Carolina Asheville. In addition to their formal education, Jonathan has obtained several certifications including Certified Career Services Provider (CCSP), Etiquette Consulting Certification, MBTI Step I Certification, Diversity Ally Certificate, Federal (Job Search) Advisor Certification, Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) Certification, and Federal Job Search Trainer & Federal Career Coach Certification. Jonathan E. also completed the Management Leadership Institute program offered by the National Association of Colleges and Employers.
