Julie Adkison has a diverse work experience that spans over several years. Julie currently works as a Freelance Medical Writer for GoodRx since November 2022.
From April 2002 to the present, Julie has held the role of Clinical Pharmacist Faculty at MEMORIAL HERMANN MEDICAL GROUP - Family Medicine Residency. In this position, they have been responsible for teaching family medicine residents various aspects of medication management for primary care diseases. Julie'sresponsibilities include conducting weekly rounds on the family medicine inpatient service, serving as the primary preceptor for diabetes clinic, delivering monthly lectures to residents, overseeing the pharmacology elective rotation, facilitating group medical visits, conducting quality improvement research with a population health manager, and providing expert advice on drug information.
Additionally, Julie worked at PESI from January 2014 to August 2016 as a Lead Presenter. In this role, they developed and presented 6-hour continuing education sessions for nursing credit, focusing on topics such as Managing the Complex Diabetes Patient and Cardiovascular Pharmacology. Julie conducted these seminars at multiple locations throughout the United States.
Julie Adkison has a strong educational background in the field of pharmaceutical and biological sciences. Julie received their Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from the University of Houston, where they studied from 1996 to 2000. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Biology, General at The University of Texas at Austin, graduating in 1994.
In addition to their academic achievements, Julie Adkison has obtained several certifications to further enhance their expertise. In 2004, they became a Certified Diabetes Educator through the NCBDE (National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators). Further, in 2012, they earned the certification of Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist, awarded by the BPS (Board of Pharmacy Specialties).
