As a Data Architect at GoodUnited, you will spearhead the advancement of our data infrastructure, playing a crucial role in elevating our platform’s intelligence and operational efficiency. This position offers the unique opportunity to lead major initiatives focused on improving data governance, quality, and integration across diverse teams. You will work directly under the guidance of the Director of Engineering within the Product Delivery team, collaborating extensively with teams such as Product, Engineering, DevOps, and Compliance. Your expertise will help drive strategic decisions, ensuring our data systems are robust, compliant, and capable of supporting GoodUnited's ambitious growth plans.

What does a Data Architect at GoodUnited do? 

  • Improve existing Data Architecture: Spearhead the initiative to analyze and find improvements in the existing data, to help the Platform to use it in the most optimal way.
  • Data Quality Framework: Design, develop, and implement robust data quality frameworks that includes validation rules, automated data checks, and error handling mechanisms.
  • Data Governance: Establish and enforce comprehensive data governance policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements. This includes defining data ownership, stewardship roles, and data access policies.
  • Collaboration and Integration: Work closely with the different departments of the organization to ensure data quality supports Company’s needs and policies.
  • Monitoring and Auditing: Set up and manage continuous monitoring systems for data quality and governance. Conduct regular audits of data processes to ensure ongoing compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Documentation and Training: Document all data processes, quality frameworks, and governance policies clearly and comprehensively. Provide training and support to other teams on data governance practices and tools.
  • Technical Leadership: Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies in data engineering. Mentor junior data engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing and best practices.

What experience and skills does a Data Architect need in order to be successful? 

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in data engineering or a related role, with a proven track record of implementing data quality and governance initiatives.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong expertise in Relational Databases using SQL, strong in programming languages such as Python, and data warehouse tools such as Snowflake or similar. High proficiency in ETL tools such as Matillion. Experience with AWS  and Database administration are a plus.
  • Data Quality Tools: Familiarity with data quality tools and frameworks, such as Talend, Informatica, or similar.
  • Governance Knowledge: In-depth understanding of data governance principles and best practices, including data stewardship, data lifecycle management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Proficiency in English is a must.
