Brian Kobashikawa is an experienced design professional with a strong background in user experience and interaction design. Brian served as Principal Designer at Yahoo from 2001 to 2008, where responsibilities included leading visual design for Yahoo Messenger and UX prototyping for Mail and Contacts projects. Following this, Brian worked at Xobni as Principal Designer, and after its acquisition by Yahoo, returned to the company until 2013. In subsequent roles at Google from 2015 to 2025, Brian held various positions including Senior Staff Interaction Designer, focusing on product design for AI Applications in Google Cloud and contributing to Material Design initiatives. Brian’s career began with an internship at iXL and included a role as Senior Designer at Spongelab, Inc. Brian earned a BA in Design from the University of California, Los Angeles.
