Girish Kumar

Girish Kumar is a seasoned engineering leader with extensive experience in top technology firms. Currently serving as Vice President of Engineering at Google since June 2022, Girish previously held the role of Vice President and Head of Engineering for Messenger at Meta from January 2021 to June 2022. A brief hiatus as a full-time dad and meditation practitioner occurred from June 2018 to December 2020. Prior experience includes positions such as Vice President of Engineering and Director of Engineering at Facebook from February 2013 to May 2018 and various technical leadership roles at Microsoft Corporation from October 2003 to January 2013, where responsibilities included heading search quality for Bing and leading significant development teams. Girish's career also includes early work at Ensim Corporation as a Member of Technical Staff. Academically, Girish Kumar holds a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Maryland.
