Jayavel Shanmugasundaram is an accomplished technology leader with extensive experience in engineering and product management. Currently serving as the VP of Engineering for Consumer Shopping at Google since January 2011, Jayavel leads the engineering team responsible for developing consumer shopping experiences. Previously at Google, Jayavel held the positions of VP & GM for App Ads, Display Ads, and Infrastructure, overseeing multiple teams across engineering and management. Prior to Google, Jayavel was a Principal Research Scientist at Yahoo! Inc., where efforts led to the development of next-generation display advertising systems. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an MS from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and a BE from Regional Engineering College, Tiruchirappalli.
