Ian Driver

Head of Bioinformatics at Gordian Biotechnology

Ian Driver has extensive experience in the field of bioinformatics and computational biology. Ian currently serves as the Head of Bioinformatics at Gordian Biotechnology since April 2019. Prior to this, they worked at Amgen as a Scientist specializing in single cell sequencing from July 2017 to April 2019. Ian has also served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at UCSF from February 2014 to July 2017, where they investigated distal lung cell populations and developed bioinformatic tools for data analysis. Ian completed their Ph.D. at Columbia University Medical Center from September 2007 to September 2013, focusing on adult stem cell specification and maintenance. Ian also has experience in technology evaluation and business planning, having worked as a Tech Ventures Fellow at Columbia Technology Ventures from August 2008 to July 2010. Additionally, they have gained expertise in cell biology and stem cell research through roles at the General Electric Global Research Center, Wittrup Lab MIT, Bioprocessing Technology Institute, and Wittrup Lab. Ian started their scientific career as a Summer Intern at the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center in 2002.

Ian Driver's education history begins with their attendance at Owensboro High School from 1997 to 2001. After completing high school, they went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where they studied from 2001 to 2005. Additionally, during their time at MIT, they also obtained a degree in Chemical Engineering. Ian Driver continued their academic journey at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, where they pursued a Ph.D. in Cellular Molecular, Structural and Genetic Studies. Ian attended Columbia University from 2007 to 2013, culminating in the completion of their Ph.D. degree.
