Katy Held has a diverse work experience in the brewing industry. Katy started their career in 2007 as a senior studying biochemistry and Spanish at Colorado State University. After graduating, they worked as an undergraduate research scientist and later as a research associate at the university. In 2012, Katy joined UC Davis as a graduate student researcher. Katy then interned at Anheuser-Busch in 2013. In 2014, Katy joined MillerCoors as a technical trainee and eventually became a Brewing Process Leader. Katy also worked at Gordon Biersch Brewing Company as the Director of Quality and later as the Head Brewer and Director. Katy's experience demonstrates their expertise and dedication to the brewing industry.
Katy Held completed their education with a Master's degree in Food Science and Technology from the University of California, Davis from 2012 to 2014. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Colorado State University, studying there from 2007 to 2011. In addition to their formal education, they obtained a Diploma in Brewing from THE INSTITUTE OF BREWING & DISTILLING in June 2014.

In 1997, Gordon Biersch opened a state-of-the-art brewery and bottling facility in San Jose, CA in order to begin bottling and distributing its famed, German-style beers. Today, Gordon Biersch Brewing Company is a brewing industry leader with 22 years of experience and counting. The microbrew trend continues to grow, and the company is actively expanding its distribution nationwide. Since 1998, Gordon Biersch Brewing Company has more than doubled its production, increasing its capacity to 3.1 million gallons of beer annually, making Gordon Biersch Brewing Company the largest brewery in the San Francisco Bay Area.
