Shane Mannion

Shane Mannion has a rich and diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Shane is currently working at Gore Mutual Insurance, where they hold the position of Vice President, Engineering since September 2023. Prior to that, they worked as the Director Devops and Architecture at the same company from September 2022 to September 2023.

Before joining Gore Mutual Insurance, Shane served as an Instructor at York University School of Continuing Studies starting from June 2021. Their role involved leading the 'DevOps Toolchain in Practice' module as part of the DevOps certificate program. This included various learning methods such as asynchronous learning through weekly labs and discussions, as well as Zoom days with industry guest speakers.

Shane's career at Aviva started in 2004, where they worked in different roles such as Technical Development Lead from January 2014 to November 2016, Development Team Lead from April 2009 to January 2014, and Senior Software Developer from October 2004 to March 2009.

Before Aviva, Shane gained experience at Remunerator - Novated Leasing & Salary Packaging, where they worked as a Development Team Lead from October 2002 to April 2004 and as a Senior Software Developer from May 2001 to September 2002.

Shane's initial work experience was at Orbis MES Ltd. as a Software Developer from September 1998 to September 2000.

Shane Mannion has a solid educational background with degrees in Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering. Shane completed their Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Galway in 1996. Shane then pursued a Masters of Engineering Science [Research] degree in Mechanical Engineering at University College Dublin from 1996 to 1998. Later, in 2005, Shane completed their Masters of Science in Applied Computing for Technologists at Technological University Dublin. In addition to their academic qualifications, Shane also possesses the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate certification obtained from Amazon Web Services in August 2022.
