Gerald Okamoto

Gerald Okamoto has extensive work experience in human resources, with a focus on labor relations. Gerald started their career at GTE Hawaiian Tel in 1996, where they served as a Director and successfully negotiated a collective bargaining agreement after a lengthy stalemate. From 2001 to 2004, they worked at Verizon Communications, overseeing the transition of human resources functions after a merger. At Verizon Communications Incorporated from 2004 to 2005, they implemented processes and training to address attendance issues. From 2005 to 2006, Gerald worked as an Assistant Superintendent at the Department of Education, negotiating collective bargaining agreements and implementing data-driven decision-making processes. Gerald then held various roles at Starwood Hotels & Resorts, including Senior Human Resources Manager and Human Resources Manager, where they handled labor relations and provided support to new managers. From 2008 to 2010, they worked as a Senior Manager at Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Waikiki. Gerald also worked at Hawaiian Telecom as a Director of Labor Relations and HR Business Unit Managers, where they managed a workforce transition and facilitated significant cost savings. Most recently, they served as the Vice President of Human Resources at Grace Pacific LLC, overseeing HR operations for over 600 employees in Hawaii.

Gerald Okamoto has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from UC Santa Barbara. Gerald also has a Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of New Haven.
