Bataung Mohapi

Mechanical Research Engineer at Gradient

Bataung Mohapi has a diverse work experience in the field of engineering. Starting in 2017, they worked as a Research Assistant at Duke University, where they conducted analysis on PFO films using techniques such as Atomic Force Microscopy and Photoluminescence. Bataung also co-authored a paper on this study.

In 2018, they interned at One Power Africa, where they designed SolidWorks models for modular mounting frames and conducted Finite Element Analysis to optimize their designs. Bataung also installed a solar tracking pilot power plant.

In the same year, Mohapi became an Engineering Research Fellow at the Thermodynamics and Sustainable Energy Laboratory at Duke University. Here, they tested and optimized a single cell experimental PEM fuel cell and achieved a fuel efficiency of 49.4%.

Currently, they work as a Mechanical Research Engineer at Gradient, starting in 2019.

Bataung Mohapi pursued a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering at Duke University from the year 2015 to 2019.
