Thomas Biersteker is an esteemed academic in the field of international security, currently serving as the Gasteyger Professor Honoraire and Gasteyger Professor of International Security at the Graduate Institute, Geneva, since August 2007. Biersteker has held various leadership roles, including Director of Policy Research at the Programme for the Study of International Governance from September 2011 to August 2017, and Associate Fellow and Academic Advisory Board Member at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy from 2007 to 2015. Prior experience includes a lengthy tenure at Brown University, where Biersteker held the position of Professor and Director of the Watson Institute for International Studies from July 1992 to June 2007, alongside serving as the Henry R. Luce Professor from 1992 through 2006. Biersteker completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Political Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Public Affairs from the University of Chicago.
