Travis Patterson

Travis Patterson is currently a Senior Software Engineer at Grafana Labs. Prior to this, they were a Senior Member of Technical Staff at VMware Tanzu from January 2020 to April 2021. There, they led the Open Source Cloud Foundry Loggregator project in both a technical and product capacity. Travis also re-architected Loggregator to double its scale and align log format with the open-source RFC 5424 standard. In addition, Travis developed a pull-based metrics architecture for Cloud Foundry and made low-level triage and performance enhancements to high-throughput distributed systems.

Before VMware Tanzu, Travis was a Staff Software Engineer at Pivotal Software, Inc. from March 2016 to December 2019. There, they worked on the Cloud Foundry Platform team developing the BOSH product used to deploy and manage large-scale distributed systems. Travis also contributed to several other open source projects including Ruby Buildpack, Cloud Controller Manager for Kubernetes, and Garden Linux Container Runtime.

Prior to Pivotal, Travis was a Software Developer at UniFocus from March 2014 to March 2016. There, they worked on the software engineering team building enterprise workforce management solutions. Travis also created internal tools for data analysis and developed several features for the flagship product suite.

Before UniFocus, Travis was an Analyst/Programmer III at the University of New Mexico from August 2012 to August 2013. There, they worked in the Office of Information Technology on the Enterprise Data Warehouse team. Travis developed data integration solutions using Informatica PowerCenter and built new data models for the data warehouse using Oracle PL/SQL.

Travis began their career as a Software Engineer II at the Colorado State Judicial Branch from September 2013 to March 2014. There, they worked on the Courts Information Technology team developing web applications for use by judges, clerks, and attorneys. Travis also maintained and upgraded existing applications and provided Tier III technical support to end users.

Travis Patterson has a Batchelor's of Science in Computer Science from The University of New Mexico.
