Emelline Liu has a diverse work experience in the healthcare industry, spanning over different roles and organizations. Emelline currently serves as the Business Team Lead, Access and Evidence at GRAIL, Inc. where they lead the business team in coordinating evidence generation for regulatory and reimbursement purposes. Prior to that, they worked at Guardant Health as the Director, Outcomes and Evidence, where they developed the infrastructure for a clinico-genomic linked database and streamlined data management and analyses.

Before their time at Guardant Health, Liu was the Director, Global HEOR & RWE at Intuitive, where they built a world-class GHEOR-RWE function and developed different teams focusing on database management, real-world evidence, economic modeling, and value integration. Emelline also gained experience at Cepheid, where they acted as the Clinical Lead of China & Japan Submissions in Regulatory Affairs, coordinating clinical trials and studies for regulatory approvals and strategic goals. Additionally, at Cepheid, they served as a Health Economist/Manager/Senior Manager, contributing to the development of clinical and economic value strategies and leading HEOR and Market Access projects.

Liu's career began at GlaxoSmithKline as a Fellow in Global Health Outcomes, where they focused on health economic modeling for Alzheimer's disease and related dementia. Emelline also worked as a Fellow in Health Economics and Policy Research at the Veterans Health Administration, analyzing the effects of drug co-payment policies on veterans. At UCLA Health Services Research Center, they served as a Graduate Student Researcher in Health Services Research, examining the quality of care and healthcare utilization among senior diabetic patients. Finally, Liu gained early analyst experience at the Veterans Health Administration, where they explored hospital administration and reimbursement systems.

Emelline Liu completed their education in a chronological manner. From 2003 to 2005, they attended the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health and earned a Master's degree in Health Services Research with a focus on Health Services Administration. Following this, they joined the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill-School of Public Health for their doctoral program in Health Economics, which they pursued from 2005 to 2009.
